Mike Howard is Chairman and CEO of privately held Howard Energy Partners (HEP), which he founded fourteen years ago as a purposeful and meaningful endeavor to build a values-driven, high-impact energy company that delivers reliable energy infrastructure while contributing to the communities it serves. Under his leadership, HEP has grown into a diversified, multibillion-dollar midstream energy enterprise operating across four U.S. states and Mexico. His business reflects his belief that access to reliable, affordable energy is foundational to human progress. His work demonstrates a deep commitment to expanding energy availability as a tool for economic empowerment and addressing energy poverty.
Prior to founding HEP, Mike served as President of Midstream for the largest division of a Fortune 100 energy company and held senior leadership roles in several publicly traded energy firms. Throughout his career, Mike has led high-performing teams in developing major energy infrastructure across multiple oil and gas basins. He was on the front lines of the Shale Revolution, helping to transform energy access for the United States and its allies. He holds a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering from Texas A&M University–Kingsville.
Mike currently serves on the Board of Directors of HEP, Atlas Energy Solutions (NYSE: AESI), TXOGA, INGAA, and Jonah Energy LLC. Active in philanthropy and civic engagement, he is also on the Board of Trustees of the Texas A&M University–Kingsville Foundation, the San Antonio Academy, Energy Corps, Switch Energy Alliance, and numerous other organizations. He resides in San Antonio, Texas with his wife and three children.
